Mount Kōya is a mountain area in the Wakayama prefecture in Japan.
One of the highlights is the Okunoin Cemetary, an ancient forested buddhist cemetery which is one of the most spiritual places in Japan. You can easily loose yourself amongst the trees and winding cobblestoned pathways and enjoy the calm majestic feeling of being in this special place. Many people decide to stay in one of the temples overnight, which I imagine would be an unforgettable experience.
