The colourful mountain village of Las Cuevas is cradled by the looming dramatic peaks of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere.
It is a handful of vibrant and worn wooden and stone buildings Nestled deep in the Andes, just shy of the Chilean border.
When we visited the ground was covered by snow and families were joyously sledding at the mountain base.
A sweet outdoor market sold beautiful handmade jumpers, gloves and terracotta jars and we decided to warm up with a stop at the local cafetería for some Chocolate Caliente and Sopaipilla, a chilian friend pastry.
The very nearby Puente del Inca is a breathtaking natural bridge rock formation created by the mineral-rich thermal spring leaving layers of colourful sediment over thousands of years.
With the snow capped mountain backdrop and a solitary church sitting behind it is absolutely worth making the journey there.
