Hội An, Vietnam

Hoi An is a delightful serene oasis on Vietnam’s central coast. The beautifully preserved ancient centre is a bicycle and pedestrian only area, so you are free to wonder amongst the trees and canals and take in the city without interruption – which is a rarity in bustling Vietnam.

Down the small alleyways you will find hidden eclectic coffee shops and bars, where you can try the very strong but refreshing vietnamese ice coffee. There is also a large vibrant market to explore and pick up some fresh fruit or vegetables.

At night Hoi An is simply magical with traditional lanterns illuminating the city as you stroll along the river enjoying the warm evenings watching the city lights reflecting on the water and stoping to try one of the delicious street eateries.

Although you could spend weeks relaxing in Hoi An there are also many great things to do very close to the town. If you are after a little spirituality you should check out my post on the Thuy Son temple in the Marble Mountains or for a fun beach retreat take a look at An Bang Beach.
