Buenos Aires is a proud, beautiful and creative city with a seductive crumbling grandeur and timeless soul.
The colourful bohemian suburb of San Telmo is beautiful and alive. It is bursting with antique stores, mural art, tango and live music venues. The San Telmo street fair, held every Sunday explodes onto the streets with creatives and visitors flocking to San Telmo to be a part of the incredible flurry of performance art, wonderful music, food of all kinds and many other treasures from antiques to crafts and art. The fair is enormous, stretching many blocks and with surprises on every corner. It is my absolute favourite thing about about Buenos Aires and is such a one of a kind extravaganza of fun and frivolity that you must plan your visit to be in town on a Sunday.
Buenos Aires has a lot of stories to tell with a rich and long history. The Recoleta Cemetery, the resting place of many notable Argentinians and a labyrinth of ornate and lovely mausoleums is a quiet and contemplative experience to visit. Alternatively the traditional immigrant neighbourhood of La Boca and it’s colourful El Caminito street museum are fun and vibrant. Buenos Aires is also home to many grand buildings such as the Argentine National Congress and the Casa Rosada which sits proudly beside the beautiful Plaza de Mayo.
The ecological reserve Costanera Sur is a lesser known gem in Buenos Aires and is a great place to walk or bike through. Afterwards you can stroll by the water of the Laguna de las Gaviotas on Av. Int. Hernan M. Giralt and grab a snack from one of the pop up eateries and watch the sunset.
The longer you stay in Buenos Aires the more you fall in love with it’s captivating mysterious energy and artistic beauty.
